Icaro 4fight Cut integral Helmet

I was due a new helmet, and spent many months searching the web and asking many questions along the way. Eventually after a very strong recommendation, I went for the 4fight Cut integral helmet from Icaro 2000.

These are not cheap, but also not hugely expensive £204 delivered, they are designed for the paragliding market, so they have to be light, and also strong.

My first impressions are, from ordering to delivery only took a few days, the first thing I noticed when I picked the box up was how light this helmet was, I am already used to the RuRoC helmet which weighed 976g, this helmet comes in at 840g including the visor, but it feels so much lighter, and as far as I am concerned offers more protection around the chin area.

Opening the box, the helmet was wrapped in a protective bag, there was also a helmet bag, a DVD called The Journey (A flying story), the Allen key for the visor, and a few leaflets.

You decide, when you buy, what visor you require, either a clear, tinted brown, tinted blue or mirror finish, this makes a change as helmets normally come with a clear and you have to order a tinted visor as an extra. The visor is held in place with an allen screw and large washers either side of the helmet, no plastic fittings that can easily break.

The helmet feels really good, and solid, there is plenty of padding inside the helmet, I took my glasses off, and pulled the helmet on, it was a snug fit, I was a little surprised as I had ordered a small helmet, but the box it came in said medium, it fit pretty perfect anyway, I walked through the kitchen to have a look in a mirror, I commented to the wife that I hardly new I had it on it felt so light. I had no problem fitting my glasses with the visor open. The helmet is fixed in position with the under chin strap similar to motor bike helmets.

I have bought this helmet to use in the buggy, just wearing it feels extremely light, and offers a huge amount of view as you can imagine being a paragliding helmet, I have yet to use it in the buggy and will, complete this review as soon as I have done.

So far so good, first impressions, it ticks all the boxes.

Some of the website blurb

Italian design

Designed by Ignazio Bernardi, with technical consultancy from the greatest Italian helmet developer

For all of us at Icaro 2000, the name “4fight” has nothing to do with war. In fact, we believe in peace and in man’s wellbeing. That is why we started manufacturing helmets for the protection of those who take part in extreme sports. For us, “4fight” refers to the struggle with fear that we all go through at moments in which we accept a challenge. An internal fight towards self-improvement and the attainment of seemingly impossible goals.

Interchangeable internal padding This helmet has internal padding that can be replaced by larger or smaller padding pieces, thus varying the helmet size.
If the helmet is not a perfect fit, we send a new padding free of charge, independently from where you bought the helmet.
The important advantage: you can easily remove the padding and replace it with a new one or just wash it.
