The slip faces (leeward side of dunes) are very soft and the sand collapses very easily making it harder to move through it. The buggy slides down sideways through it being caught in a mini sand avalanche .
Note the how deep my wide offset Bigfoots has sunk into the sand.
If you try & stand there your feet will disappear and you will be buried up to your ankles in it.
