That is a standard tube length. I did buy an extension piece but it was too long. I keep the bottom of the CamelBak bag where the tube is connected on the same side as my shoulder. In my case on the left side. Note that I have fixed Velcro on the shoulder as well as the front of my T-Shirt to hold the tube. In the pic I posted above, I have the mouthpiece in my mouth. The pic beside shows the tube hanging down to give you an idea of the length.
