Starting from the southern reaches of Amsterdam, we follow the Amstel river to the village of Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, about 8 km upstream. It is the best way to discover the city. There aren't that many towns on the way, but if you just want to get out in the open, this is a great trip for an afternoon. I was so happy to have spotted this place out for some friends that will be visiting me in Amsterdam soon. It was agreed on by all 4 of us, that 4 hours on the bike was probably 1 hour to long.
